Sunshine In My Martini Glass
Luscious Lemon Love! This is what you’ll experience when you take a sip of this most lemony little cocktail. An Italian Lemon Drop Cocktail, featuring an ingredient cherished in the most incredibly beautiful place in Italy, The Amalfi Coast. Lemons thrive in the warm regions of Italy. This cocktail will make you feel you’re almost there. Okay, so it’s not magic, but after a couple, you really might start to believe it.
Limoncello
What’s the secret ingredient? It’s Limoncello. Limoncello is the Italian word referring to an intensely lemon-flavored liqueur most famously associated with and produced in Sorrento, the Amalfi coast, and the island of Capri, but also very popular throughout all of Italy. Enjoy this delicious Italian Lemon Drop Cocktail and pretend you’re soaking up the sounds and breezes of the coast with the bright sunshine and relax.
I can’t think of a time a friend or family member didn’t return from a trip to Italy without a bit of limoncello liqueur. It’s also fairly easy to make yourself. Here’s a link from “Cooking Italian with Joe” on Youtube – how to make homemade limoncello. Italian Lemon Drop Cocktail
This is a very potent little tipple. Beautiful and tasty, but powerful. In fact, I rate this one as a 1.5 on my official “KARAOKE Meter”. That’s about how many I would need before I actually agree to sing.
How To Make It
Prepare your coup or martini glass. Wet the rim with a bit of lemon, then roll the rim into a small platter filled with sugar. Let the rim dry while you prepare your cocktail.
Into a cocktail shaker filled 1/3 with ice, add 2 ounces of your favorite vodka with 1 ounce of Grand Marnier or Cointreau or Triple Sec. I prefer Grand Marnier but any will do. Next, add 1 ounce of Limoncello Liqueur. Add 1/2 ounce of simple syrup and 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Shake vigorously, at least 25 seconds for a icy cold cocktail! Strain into your prepared glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Saluti!
