🍂A Fall🦃Flavored Tipple🥃
To Sip and be 🙏Thankful
A Maple Bourbon Smash Cocktail is a perfect Thanksgiving sipper! It’s almost that time, we stuff the bird and stuff our faces too. I love thanksgiving! I love the cooking and I especially love the eating. But, let’s not forget about the drinking either (responsibly, always). I think it’s fun to find a new signature drink from time to time. This is a riff on a classic Old Fashioned, flavored with a little sweet, fall favorite, pure maple syrup. Enjoy this Maple Bourbon Smash Cocktail with appetizers and dazzle your friends and family, they’ll love it.
A Toast To Good Cheer with The “Be Kind Poem”
I always get a little sentimental for this holiday, more so than others. This year, our little gathering of family and friends will each receive a copy of The “Be Kind” Poem by Dr. Seuss. The cut out will serve as a place card at each guests seat and also a way to begin our “what we are grateful for this year” discussion. I think It’s perfect for Thanksgiving in every way.
Here’s a copy to paste, just in case, that if like me, you’re looking forward to a toast on this holiday near. (me.)
Now back to the Maple Bourbon Smash Cocktail! Here’s how you can make one (or two) too!
The Recipe
Fill a cocktail shaker 1/2 with ice. Add 2 ounces of bourbon, 1 oz of pure maple syrup, 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 1 ounce of freshly squeezed orange juice and 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters (or try orange bitters). Shake vigorously for at least 25 seconds. Strain into a double rocks glass with one large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon or orange peel. I also added a “twizzle” stick. It’s a stripped except for the top piece of fresh rosemary. Sip and enjoy!

I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and that for you and for me, we keep the spirit of gratitude throughout the year. It’s so easy for me to let that feeling get away. This Thanksgiving instead of waiting for another New Years resolution, I am going to make a Thanksgiving resolution. To remember to be grateful everyday. Not too long ago, I had a important and really kind of life affirming changing thought. It comes from the old saying, “the grass is always greener on the other side”, but the truth is, you have to remember to take care of your own grass. Water it and feed it, to groom it, really care for it. When I stop to think of that, and I remember to care for myself, I am always happy on my own side of the yard.
