This Halloween, make your own “Eye Of Newt” in the form of these devilishly creepy, but ever so delicious deviled eggs. It’s a Pinterest can’t fail, easy as pie. Everyone loves ❤️ deviled eggs. The famous witches🧙🏻♀️ incantation calls for the following ingredients: Fillet of a fenny snake 🐍 , In the cauldron boil and bake; eye of newt 👁, and toe of frog 🐸, wool of bat 🦇 , and tongue 👅 of dog, Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, lizard’s 🦎 leg, and howlet’s wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil 🔥and bubble. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
But, try my recipe, the ingredients are much easier to find at your local grocery store or even at the Piggly-Wiggly!
How To Make Halloween Deviled Eggs: Eye Of Newt 👁
The day ahead, hard boil 12 eggs. If you don’t have a hard-boiled egg maker, add the eggs to a pot, large enough that they will not be over lapping. Fill the pot with cold water to just cover all the eggs. Set the pot on high flame and let the eggs come to boil, uncovered. Once the pot starts to boil, turn off the heat and cover. Let the eggs sit for 9 minutes, then plunge the eggs into cold water to stop the cooking.
Once the eggs have cooled, dry them off. Put them into a large plastic freezer bag. Into the bag add food coloring. Be generous so that the eggs get enough color. I use gel color which is pretty strong. I used about 4 drops of the color. Use any color you like. Green, black, red, blue etc. Seal the bag with the eggs and the dye, then roll the eggs around to crack and crush the peels. Refrigerate overnight.
The next day, open the bag and peel the eggs. Rinse the eggs, then dry again. Slice the eggs in half and remove the yolks, putting the yolks into a medium-sized bowl. Lay the eggs whites onto a serving tray.
Into the bowl with the yolks add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons dried dill and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper. Add 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish. If you want to make your own, get my recipe here https://wp.me/p9KEfL-Po
Add 2 tablespoons mayonnaise and 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard. Mix well. To fill the eggs whites, put the yolk mixture into a plastic bag, remove the air and seal. Snip the corner and pipe the mixture into the egg whites.
The Eye of The Newt
To garnish the egg, slice Spanish pimento stuffed olives then top each Halloween Deviled Egg with the “eye”.
Halloween Deviled Eggs Eye Of Newt
Ingredients
- 12 eggs
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
- 2 teaspoon dried dill weed
- 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or more to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- Food coloring of choice (gel works well for this recipe)
Garnish: pimento stuffed Spanish olives
