Time To Chill-Lax!
Doesn’t an icy cold, frozen adult beverage sound delicious? I mean, we’re here upon the last official holiday weekend of summer! Unless you’re down under right now, it’s probably pretty hot βοΈ where you are too! It’s time for a real brain βοΈ freeze, old school, grown-up-style with a decadent cocktail πΈ brimming with frozen fruit π and RUM. I will admit that this is not my typical cocktail, but when it’s time to really cool down and chill-lax, why not make it a Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri.
I found myself staring at some leftover fresh strawberry π puree. Certainly, I could have just labeled it and stored it in the freezer, as I usually do. But, something said, you should add alcohol to this fruit and drink it. So, who am I to argue with myself, especially when I have such a perfectly good idea π‘. Plus, this is just another super simple drink you can make at home.
No fancy expensive ingredients here. But, this is one drink that’s best shared with friends and a good π ! Here’s how I made it!
The Big βοΈ Summer Chill π¨
Into your blender, add 1 cup of πstrawberries that have been washed and trimmed, hulls removed. Let is whirl for about 30 seconds, until the fruit is a puree. You should have about 1/2 cup or so of strawberry puree. Add 1 cup of ice then 8 ounces of your favorite rum. Squeeze aboutπ 10 limes. Depending on the juiciness of the limes, you should have about 5 ounces of lime juice, add that to the blender.
Next, add 1 1/2 ounces of simple syrup and 3 ounces of any of the following, Grand Marnier, Cointreau or Triple Sec. Let the blender go on high for about 1 minutes. Depending on how sweet you like your drinks, you may want to adjust the amount of simple syrup. Start low and taste, then add more if needed.
Serve in cocktail glasses or margarita glasses. Garnish with lime π wheels or orchids. (Hee hee…for the picture, I just happened to have had an orchid sitting right on my kitchen sink that had just finished blooming. I realize that’s not very typical! I also happened to have a Plumeria πΊ plant that just bloomed, so there’s that too.) If you do garnish with flowers, make sure they’re safe for food/consumption. That’s my public service announcement.
Frozen π Strawberry Daiquiri
I realize that a lime wheel is much more realistic, plus it adds flavor and it’s just another great way to get all your daily fruits into your diet!
