Is That A Pickle๐Ÿฅ’In Your Martini?๐Ÿธ

In the summer I turn into an obsessive compulsive pickle maker.  I pickle everything.  I also pickle veggies almost as soon as I pull them from  their life-giving vines ๐Ÿฅ’.  There I go, mixing up a new pickling concoction.  I can’t stand to think of them losing any of their crunchy goodness before I plunge them into a slightly sweet, very briny, spicy stupor.  So, if you’re gonna pickle, why not a Pickled Martini?

I have a ton of different martini variations on this blog and one thing is for sure, I love a martini!  But, I gotta have it in a perfect martini glass.  Here’s a link if you need some new ones! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000W06570/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000W06570&linkCode=as2&tag=bittersalty06-20&linkId=62447889be32b27f93bbb620005c158b

I think folks are either pickle people or they are not.  My husband is a non-pickle person.  I am a pickle person.  Once, again, evidence of our yin and yang โ™‹.  When I mentioned putting a pickle into a perfectly delicious martini, he was a little shocked.  But, guess what, I didn’t even invent this.  Well, in my own mind I did, but I learned it’s actually a thing.  So, if you like your martini dirty, give this a whirl sometime!

I grow cucumbers ๐Ÿฅ’ every summer.  They are my favorite pickled veggie, as you would imagine.  But, I also grow a variety of different cucumbers to keep things interesting.  This year, I am growing Lemon, Armenian and a burpless pickling variety.

You can see how completely different each one is.  When I make pickles, like most things, I bend toward the extreme.  I like pickles with a bit more tang from the vinegar than most and I like them super garlicy!  Keep that in mind if you’re looking at my pickle recipes.  You can certainly gear towards your own taste.  For my pickling recipe, go to https://wp.me/p9KEfL-y6 .   This is  just a good basic recipe for any dill flavored pickling.

If you  want to try a new spin on your cocktail tonight, why not make a classic, with a twist. Have a Pickled Martini, Dirty Style!  I bet you’re gonna love it.

The pickle brine give this cocktail a tiny bit of a sweet taste combined with the herbs and the salty brine.  Its sort of sweet and “dirty” at the same time.  Here’s how I make it!

Over Here, Weโ€™re Shakers

First, put your favorite martini glass into the freezer to chill.  In a large shaker, add ice, half full.  Add 2 ounces gin or vodka, no judging here.  I like them both ways!  Then add 1/2 ounce of pickle juice.   Pull your glass out of the freezer and add 1/2 ounce of extra dry vermouth to the glass and swirl to hit all the surfaces of the glass, then toss the rest out.  (That’s how my Father-In-Law taught me to do it!).  Then shake the bageebers out of the cocktail.  You want to shake at least 30 seconds.  Now, pour into your glass.  It should have a nice layer of frosty ice bits on the top.  Garnish with a pickle spear and a twist of lemon ๐Ÿ‹ and Bob’s your uncle!  Cheers! ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿธ
